The hotel is in Montefalco, close to the city walls on the northern side, with a splendid view towards Assisi and Perugia, secluded in beautiful park-like surroundings with centuries-old fir trees, cedars and cypresses. Gabriele D’Annunzio, moved by the seemingly infinite vista of the surrounding landscape from Montefalco, called it "a city of silence" where "it seems heaven itself illuminates the countryside". From Montefalco the view easily takes in hills, woods, rivers and towns: Assisi, Perugia, Spello, Foligno, Spoleto, Bevagna, Trevi. |

Activities and surroundings
Art and the passage of history have left splendid and enduring marks on Montefalco: the fourteenth century walls with gates and towers that still protect the town, the cobbled streets and flights of steps winding round the medieval buildings, the facades and loggias of the patrician palaces.
Its churches still preserve works of art that have fascinated travellers of every period, writers, musicians, painters; in the town centre the church of San Francesco is the most important of many. The church was built by the Conventual Franciscans in 1300 and the central apse was frescoed by Benozzo Gozzoli in the middle of the fifteenth century with episodes from the life of St Francis.
Montefalco is situated on the Sagrantino Wine Road, a renowned wine-growing region and home of great wines.
The hotel and its staff are available to arrange visits to the cellars of the Sagrantino wine producers and cultural heritage tours for guests. As well, piano bar evenings by the pool and cookery courses can be arranged. There are also many opportunities in the surrounding area for shopping at factories producing handwoven fabrics, cashmere and ceramics.
